About Microwave Road

Microwave Road brings together the people and organisations shaping Sweden’s microwave, RF and antenna technologies. We connect industry, universities and research institutes to exchange knowledge, build relationships and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Our network spans the technology chain—from semiconductor materials and components to antennas, measurement tools and complete systems. Our members contribute to applications in telecommunications, radar, defence, space, sensing and connected mobility. Together, they represent a broad mix of established global companies, specialist businesses and research expertise.

What we do

We create opportunities for people to meet, learn and work across organisational boundaries. Through technical events, seminars and visits to member companies and research facilities, we bring current industrial challenges and new research into the same conversation.

Our events explore topics such as antenna design and measurement, electromagnetic simulation, semiconductor fabrication and satellite communications. They give members a chance to share practical experience, discover new capabilities and connect with specialists beyond their own teams.

We also support the next generation of engineers and researchers. The Microwave Road Scholarship recognises outstanding master’s thesis projects in antenna and microwave technology, highlighting new ideas and connecting emerging talent with our community.

Strong roots. A national network.

Founded in 2003, Microwave Road grew out of Western Sweden’s concentration of microwave research and industry. Its name refers to Highway 40, which connects several of the region’s key technology hubs.

Today, we are a national network with strong roots in that environment. Our purpose is to strengthen expertise, encourage collaboration and support technology and business development across Sweden’s microwave community.

Microwave Road is a nonprofit association funded by membership fees and guided by an elected board. Our activities are shaped by our members’ interests, expertise and shared challenges.
